This isn't a paid ad (though I wish it was!). I've been making my own bread at home since last October. I got tired of baking bread every three days, so I started making a few loaves at a time. It was great...except that the second loaf was always a bit dry by the time I got to it. That was fine, since most of my bread goes into making toast for breakfast, but...still. Dry.
Since I've started baking the bread, I've also been looking around for good bags to store it in. Produce bags work, but they often smell like the produce they brought home. Grocery sacks work, but...how clean are they, really? Finally, I broke down and bought these bags at Christmas Tree Shop. They were $3 for 10, but I really couldn't find anything else.

Ohmygoodness, these things WORK! I finished my "2nd loaf" of bread today, which was baked last Thursday. It was still moist! Fresh! Spongy! I couldn't believe a bag would make such a huge difference...but it did. (And now that I've written this post, I see that the bags usually retail for $8-$9 for 10 bags. Looks like I need to run back to Christmas Tree Shop!)
These bags are reusable, and they Work for Me!

This is how in love I felt about the toilet cleaner that I found that worked in getting the hard water stains out the toilet when I scrubbed on Saturday. I do whole house cleaning each saturday :)
ReplyDeleteSo yea I know how you feel about these bags. I'm glad you found something that works.
I am SO going to have to get some of those bags - that's one of the reasons I don't bake bread very often...thanks for the tip! Thanks goodness we have a Christmas Tree Shop not too far away... ;)
ReplyDeleteDo you use a bread machine, or make artisan breads?
ReplyDeleteAnd you bought those and didn't buy any for me?
ReplyDeleteHuh.
Still trying to figure that out! Anyway, I need these! I have some dough for focaccia rising even as we speak:)
Ohh that's a great tip. The one thing I don't like about homemade bread is how it goes so hard and dry after the first day. It never occurred to me to find a bag for them. D'oh! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI found the veggie version of these in my stocking this year. I thought Santa was drunk on the nog, but I was mistaken. They totally rock!
