It's Time to Partay!

To my loyal (61) subscribers - howdy doody!

To anyone visiting from 5 Minutes for Mom's Ultimate Blog Party - Come on in, pull up a chair! What's a party without presents?! Read to the end to see what I've got for you. (Hint - it rhymes with live-away.)
Ultimate Blog Party 2009
Let me take your coat...will you stay for some fresh bread? (Click on the image for a seriously yummy bread recipe!!)

Let me start with a few introductions. I am Aunt LoLo. I'm a 20-something mama to two of the cutest kids I've ever seen. (And no, I'm not biased - why do you ask?) My husband is Lo Gung. He's from Hong Kong, and he's the Asian part of our Eurasian family. Our kids are Bubba Jyu (BBJ, for short) and Siu Jeun. BBJ is two, and Siu Jeun is 3 months old. Life's crazy, but I'm looking forward to them being best friends...just as soon as they get past the toy-grabbing, hair-pulling stage. So...about 10 years from now, right?

(Hello, New York City! One of the perks of living in New England...)

BBJ's name is a mixture of several different traditions. First off, my niece couldn't say "baby" when I was pregnant, so the "baby" was dubbed "Bubba". Second, in Asia it's very common to call children "jyu" (or piglet). Thus - BBJ!

(BBJ at Gillette Castle last summer)

Siu Jeun is a little simpler - it's just his middle name. It means Perfect Man...or something humble like that.

(Siu Jeun...just being Siu Jeun.)

We are a card-carrying Mormon family. Lo Gung and I both speak Chinese and English, and our kids are bi-lingual as well.

That pretty much sums up our family!

Now, about this blog. This is my place to chronicle the adventures of our family. We are temporarily living in New England, which is an adventure in itself. We are Eurasian, and that can bear some explaining. (Stick around if you like to learn about crazy Chinese remedies, traditions and customs!) Finally, my kids are just stinkin' cute (did I mention that already?) and I like to put up pictures of them and share embarrassing stories. They're going to love me when they're in high school!

Oh, but I love to do more than just snap pictures of my kids doing embarrassing things. Oh, yes ma'am. I love to blog, craft and cook. How's that for original?

I chronicle my cooking adventures at The Chow Review. (Click on the image for a recipe for the best ribs, ever! Yes, that's chicken in the picture - the marinade is great on chicken, too!)

I chat about all my crafty endeavors, plus share tutorials, at LoLo-Craft.

Oh, and I have a little shop on Etsy where I sell my fabulous bit of Crafty. (Click on the images to see these beauties up close!)

(Mini Napkins)

(Aprons for toddlers)

(Felt dolls, all decked out for Chinese New Year)
Now...you've met us, we've mingled a bit - I really felt a connection, didn't you? - leave us a comment! Introduce yourself! Make sure you leave a way to contact you - I'll be picking one of you to receive a prize! How about...a fabulous set of Mini Napkins! Just in time for your summer parties, and oh so eco-chic!

I'll be making the rounds and visiting all of your blogs, checking out your digs...might even peek in your linen closet!

Once you've one that, head back over to 5 Minutes for Mom and take off for the next party!

Ultimate Blog Party 2009

PS - Here's the bit where I get greedy. Remember how I mentioned all the great PRIZES at 5 Minutes for Mom? Well, part of their schtick this year is that bloggers can submit PREFERENCES for what we'd like to win! Presumptuous, I know, but....hey, some of the prizes are really great.

Here's my faves (Click on the links to see who's sponsoring these great prizes!):

58 - Kitchen aid mixer (Come to Mommy!)
89 - HomeGoods $100 gift certificate (Boy, could I use some more cute doohickeys in my home. *snort*)
103 - Surprise box (Seriously? You'll put together a box of prize, just for me?!)

Plus...you know, anything that has to do with a kitchen, or home decor, or toddler girls or baby boys! Ooh, or one of the few Target gift cards, or McDonald's giftcards, or Wendy's giftcards....you get the drift. :-)

Oh, and if you need ANOTHER reason to go check out the prize page, here it is: LoLo Craft (that's me!) has donated a toddler apron (your choice of boy or girl). You definitely want a piece of that action! So, jump on over to 5MinutesforMom and add a comment to their party post to be eligible to win. (There are some other requirements, but...well, the deets are all there.)

  40. I'm coming over from Mormon Mommy Blogs, asking for your help. I am in the running for a round trip airfare paid ticket to Connecticut, to meet a friend I became acquainted with through blogging. She is a super fun person and is holding this contest. I entered a funny story titled "Grapejuice Floaties, Now Marry Me." The person whose story receives the most votes will win a trip to meet this generous lady, whom I'm hoping to meet. The voting ends tonight-midnight. I am ahead for now but there is a story coming up from behind out of nowhere and I would so, so, appreciate your help. Her blog is www.becausemomsaidso.blogspot.com and the voting is on the sidebar on the right. "Grapejuice, Floaties" Just go there and cast a vote for me, please. Thanks so much-you're awesome! ♥♥
